Spell Hop
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
Our promise
Spell Hop is a focused spelling-practice app for families. We use the minimum information needed to run the app, support your family, and improve the learning experience. We do not sell personal information or use children's learning data for advertising.
Information we collect
- Parent account information: email address and, when you choose Google sign-in, basic Google account information needed to identify your account.
- Child profile and learning information: a child's display name, quiz answers, progress, points, rewards, and settings selected by the parent.
- Optional dashboard picture: a photo a parent chooses to upload for their child's private dashboard.
- Optional reward images: images a parent uploads for family rewards.
- Essential technical information: secure session and passcode cookies that keep the account signed in and protect parent-only areas.
- Support messages: information you choose to send to support@spellhop.com.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, spelling quizzes, personalised learning paths, rewards, and progress history.
- Keep parent settings, dashboard pictures, and uploaded reward images private to the relevant family account.
- Respond to support requests and protect the app against misuse.
- Operate subscriptions and payments, if you choose to purchase a family plan.
Service providers
We use carefully selected providers to operate Spell Hop:
- Appwrite for sign-in, family data, and private file storage.
- Vercel to host and deliver the app, and for privacy-conscious pageview analytics limited to safe, generic routes.
- Google when you choose Google sign-in and, only if a parent accepts optional measurement, to measure whether Google Ads led to a parent sign-up, Checkout start, or paid subscription.
- Stripe for subscription payments. Stripe processes payment details directly; Spell Hop does not store full card numbers.
We do not send children's learning data, parent email addresses, account identifiers, or free-text input to Vercel Analytics or Google Ads. Google Ads measurement is optional, has no remarketing or advertising personalisation, and never uses enhanced conversions.
Children's privacy
Spell Hop is set up by a parent or guardian. Please use a child's first name or another display name only, and do not add contact details or other unnecessary personal information to a child profile, dashboard picture, or reward image. Parents control their family's account and can remove a dashboard picture in Settings or contact us to request access to or deletion of their data.
Cookies and analytics
Spell Hop uses essential cookies for sign-in, parent passcode protection, the active child profile, and remembering cookie preferences. Vercel Web Analytics records limited, privacy-conscious pageview information for safe generic routes and does not use advertising cookies. If a parent chooses to accept optional measurement, we load a Google Ads conversion tag solely for the customer-acquisition funnel. It is denied by default and may be changed at any time using Cookie preferences in the footer.
Read our Cookie Policy for the current cookie and measurement details.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep account and learning information while your family account is active. You can ask us to delete your account or obtain a copy of your information by emailing support@spellhop.com. We may retain limited information where required for security, legal, or record-keeping reasons.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. Contact us and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Spell Hop develops. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to let account holders know.
